The Inevitable Mahdi & Christian Persecution
I was in a town in the daytime. The sun was out and I was with a couple other men and a girl. We were Christians in an Islamic town and there white walls everywhere, about 6 feet high, creating maze-like pathways. I was helping the girl hide by dressing her up like a boy, so that she might escape persecution for not wearing a burka. Then, a fellow came by and made a few announcements. First he said something to the effect of, 'Let us all state the obvious that Islam wishes to destroy anyone who refuses to join their religion.' Then he said something like to the effect of, 'The mahdi is inevitable.'
Suddenly a handful of men began frantically running past me and I wondered what was going on. They said, 'The mahdi is here! It's happening!' I knew then that, being a Christian, if I stayed where I was I would be found and put to death for being a Christian. I ran with the girl as fast as I could, but a group of men caught up with me, beat me up, tied me to a chair, and tortured me as they tried to force me to renounce my allegiance to Jesus.
Courageously, I stood against them and declared that Jesus is the King. Somehow, the ropes loosened and I escaped free, and as a group of men raced towards me ready to strike me down with knives or machetes, I yelled to the one closest to me, 'In the name of Jesus, freeze!' I said this a couple times and the man froze in his tracks, unable to move. The rest of the Islamic men were stunned. I fled with the girl and crossed paths with other Christian men, and we jumped into a pickup truck and drove off moments before the mob of Islamic men found their way to us.
When I woke up after this dream, I wondered what this word 'mahdi' meant and if it was important. To my surprise, I found that this word 'mahdi' refers to the Islamic messiah, a figure that some Christians might perceive to be antichrist in nature.
They will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. (Matthew 24:9, NASB)
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:2-6, NASB)
At the end of age, all Christians will be threatened with torture and death to reject their King. The world will deny Jesus. They will not confess Jesus. But you, children of God, stand firm in His name to the end. Never give up. Never surrender.Back
